 Misc. Convoy Voyages:
For information on voyages made in between those mentioned here, please see the archive documents and A. Hague's Voyage Record above. Follow the convoy links provided for more details on them; several Norwegian ships took part.

As will be seen when going to Page 1 of the archive documents, Ima was in New York when war broke out in Norway on Apr. 9-1940. This document also shows most of her 1941 voyages (it looks like she spent a long time at Suez that year, from May 1 to July 31), while her 1942 voyages are listed on Page 2. That year, the Norwegian crew was replaced by an Indian one. The officers were still Norwegian. There's a message on my Ship Forum indicating that her 3rd mate at some point was Egil Henry Wiik. The poster is looking for more information.

It'll be noticed that she occasionally spent quite a long time in port. For instance, she had arrived Calcutta on Nov. 5-1942 and departure is given as Jan. 16-1943. Also, she had arrived Durban on Apr. 3 that year and did not leave until July 8 (Page 2).

In Sept.-1943, she's listed among the ships in Convoy PA 54/PB 57, together with the Norwegian Torborg, Norfjell, Norfold, Havkong and Europe. From Page 3, we learn that she had left Bandar Abbas on Sept. 24 and arrived Bombay on the 30th.

Skipping now to Apr. 21-1944, when she made a voyage from Bizerta to Port Said, where she arrived on Apr. 27, having sailed in Convoy KMS 47*. She's also included in Convoy MKS 61* in Sept.-1944, voyage Port Said to Oran. From there, she proceeded to the U.S., with arrival New York on Oct. 7, continuing to Baltimore 2 days later, arriving Oct. 10. Going back to Page 3, we see that she now appears to have spent a long time there; departure is given as Dec. 20, when she returned to New York, arriving Dec. 22, according to Page 4. On Christmas Eve, she joined the New York-U.K. Convoy HX 328, for which the Norwegian Brimanger served as Commodore Vessel, but Ima had problems keeping up and put into Halifax on Dec. 28, subsequently joining the slower Convoy SC 164, which left Halifax on Jan. 1-1945. She arrived Southampton on Jan. 21.

In Febr.-1945, we find her in the westbound North Atlantic Convoy ONS 43*, which originated in Liverpool on Febr. 27 and arrived Halifax March 16. Ima, however, was bound for New York, where she arrived March 18, having started out from Clyde on Febr. 28. Nordanger and Tropic Star are also listed in this convoy. According to A. Hague, Ima headed back to the U.K. on March 27 in Convoy SC 171* from Halifax, returning across the Atlantic in Convoy ONS 48* on Apr. 21 (Commodore in Toledo). She arrived New York on May 7, and on May 16, she joined Convoy SC 176* from Halifax in order to return to Liverpool, where she arrived May 30, continuing to Stanlow that same day. These convoys had other Norwegian ships as well. Page 4 and Page 5 list further 1945 voyages, the latter document also showing some early 1946 voyages.

* The KMS and MKS convoys will be added to individual pages in my Convoys section, with more info on each; in the meantime, the ships sailing in them are named in the section for ships in all KMS convoys and ships in all MKS convoys. The ONS convoys will also be added, but for now, see the page listing ships in all ONS convoys. Additionally, the entire SC series will be updated and completed - see ships in all SC convoys for the names of other ships in SC 171 and SC 176.

 POST WAR:

Sold to Rederi-AB Sally (manager Algot Johansson, Mariehamn, Finland) in 1953 and renamed Ragny. Sold to Belgian breakers in July 1959 and arrived Antwerp on Aug. 2 to be broken up.
