M/T Ima To Ima on the "Ships starting with I" page. Owner: A/S Ima Built by William Doxford & Sons Ltd., Sunderland in 1930.
Mostly in service Mombasa, Suez and India at the beginning of the war. At some point in 1942 the Norwegian crew was replaced by an Indian one. The officers were still Norwegian. There's a message on my Ship Forum indicating her 3rd mate at some point was Egil Henry Wiik. The poster is looking for more information. Ima is listed among the ships in Convoy PA 54/PB 57 in Sept.-1943, together with the Norwegian Torborg, Norfjell, Norfold, Havkong and Europe. In Dec.-1944 she joined the New York-U.K. Convoy HX 328. However, she may have had problems keeping up, because she put into Halifax a few days into the voyage and subsequently joined the slower Convoy SC 164, which left Halifax on Jan. 1-1945.
Sold to Rederi-AB Sally (manager Algot Johansson, Mariehamn, Finland) in 1953 and renamed Ragny. Sold to Belgian breakers in July 1959, and arrived at Antwerp 2 Aug 1959 to be broken up.
