CONVOY HX 141

Convoy HX 141 Report
Departed Halifax on July 27-1941 and arrived Liverpool on Aug. 11 (Arnold Hague says 60 ships).
Received from Tony C., England - his source: Public Records Office.


Ocean Escorts:
Montclaire AMC, Nanaimo, Trail, Orillac(?).

Newfoundland Escorts:
Skeena, Primrose, Orillac, Alberina, Veronica.

England Escorts:
Douglas, Leamington, Skate, Speedy.

According to these records the convoy had 62 vessels when sailing from Halifax.

On Aug. 6 the Norwegian Malmanger left convoy escorted by Primrose and Alberni to Iceland, arriving on the 7th.
Barrwhin dropped astern of convoy on July 29, reported small defect. Reported missing on the 30th but rejoined convoy on Aug. 10.
Rajahstan was found absent from convoy on July 28, reason not known.
British Corporal dropped out on the 28th, did not rejoin.
Harmonic dropped out of convoy on the 6th, could not keep up with the rest at 8.5 knots due to bad coal. On the 7th she caught up with convoy.

It appears the Norwegian M/S Dagfred may have been part of this convoy. According to the captain's report she departed Halifax in convoy on July 27 and arrived Greenock on Aug. 10 - ref. my page about M/S Dagfred.
