As will be seen when going to Page 1 of the documents received from the National Archives of Norway, Fenja was en route from Guiria to Gibraltar when Norway was invaded on Apr. 9-1940 - final destination Teneriffe, where she arrived from Gibraltar on May 13.

In Oct.-1941, she's named among the ships in the eastbound North Atlantic Convoy HX 155, which departed Halifax on Oct. 16 and arrived Liverpool on the 31st, and in which the Norwegian Hada County, Høegh Scout, Olaf Bergh, Slemdal, Stiklestad, and Suderøy are also listed. Fenja had a cargo of dieso, and had station 73 of the convoy, which is not yet available among the HX convoys included on my own website, but I've linked directly to A. Hague's listing within the above table (see also ships in all HX convoys). Fenja proceeded to Stanlow, where she arrived Nov. 1 - see Page 2. She subsequently joined the westbound Convoy ON 34, station 32. This convoy, which had a total of 10 Norwegian ships, was dispersed on Nov. 21, Fenja arriving New York on Nov. 25, Aruba on Dec. 1. She later joined Convoy HX 165, leaving Halifax on Dec. 15-1941. Bronxville, Daghild, Hardanger, Lise, Pan Norway, Salamis, Sydhav, Vanja and Vardefjell are also included.

In Jan.-1942, we find her in the westbound North Atlantic Convoy ON 54, which left Liverpool on Jan. 6 and dispersed on the 17th, Fenja arriving Caripito on Jan. 26. This convoy is available and will be added to an individual page in my Convoys section in due course, with more information on it; in the meantime, the ships sailing in it (and escorts) are named in the section listing ships in all ON Convoys. Brant County, Daghild, Gallia, Haakon Hauan, Leiesten (returned), and Lise are also listed.

"Nortraships flåte" states that Fenja spotted a U-boat in 18 20N 74 50W (Windward Passage) on March 13-1942 and fired at it with her 3" gun, forcing it to dive. According to her Voyage Record she was en route from Cartagena to Halifax on that date - see also Page 3.

On VE day, she was on her way from Guantanamo to New York in Convoy GN 203, which had left on May 3-1945 and arrived New York on the 10th. Fenja had previously arrived Guantanamo from Curacao on Apr. 28. Alar, James Hawson, Polycastle, Sørvard and Vinland are also included in GN 203, as is the Panamanian Norvinn, which had Norwegian managers and is, therefore, listed under the N's on this website.
