Notes: Yorkmar, on a voyage from Boston for Cardiff with 6584 tons grain, dairy produce, truck parts and ammunition, was sunk by U-645 on Oct. 9. She had a crew of 39 and 28 Armed Guard - 13 died. The escorting Polish destroyer Orkan was sunk by U-378 on Oct. 8, with great loss of life, as will be seen by clicking on the external link below.
