| Also, the British Athelchief, listed at the end of this table, probably belongs in this section. The same goes for Oilreliance, which is included in the Bermuda section on the A 1 form, with station number B 23.
* There's a note for Ferncastle saying "Arrived Halifax 30th July, will probably appear in their advance telegram too". |

Listed on A 1 form for Bermuda portion
|
| There are 2 ships crossed out on the A 1 form that do not appear in the Advance Sailing Telegram, namely Nellie (paper/London/Station A 13) and Anna Mazaraki (grain/Station A 23) - the latter has been replaced by the Norwegian Brisk. Nellie and Anna Mazaraki are both listed in the next convoy, HX 65. Also, Ary Lensen has replaced Blairmore in Station A 21 (crossed out - listed in Convoy SC 1, sunk). Athelchief is listed on the A 1 form for the Bermuda portion, but among the list of Halifax ships in the "Advance Sailing Telegram". |

Notes: Convoy SHX 64 (Sydney, C.B. portion) joined at 14:30 on the 10th in 43 22N 56 09W and BHX 64 (Bermuda section) joined at 12:00 on the 12th in 43 24N 48 43W. The convoy had 63 ships, 60 of which still remained at rendezvous, the following 3 having left the convoy: * Leonidas M. Valmas' engine broke down on Aug. 12, later rejoined, but broke down again and not seen thereafter (date illegible - 49 08N 40 09W). She was torpedoed and badly damaged by U-46 on Aug. 20-1940, towed to Greenock and beached - later broken up. 16 were killed in the attack. ("The World's Merchant Fleets 1939", R. W. Jordan and "Lloyd's War Losses", Vol I). The Swedish Pacific had steering trouble 3 times, but rejoined. The British City of Lancaster also had steering trouble. Unfortuantely, I'm unable to desipher all of the Commodore's handwritten notes, and can only read the names of a few of the escort vessels as follows: Ocean Escort: HMS Rajputana, from Halifax until parting company at 04:30 on Aug. 20 in 57 38N 17 0?W All the Norwegian ships mentioned on this page are discussed on this website - see alphabet index below.
