Hallo all.
Who know exact coordinates and circumstances of loss of Norwegian motor ship Tourcoing (5798 brt) 24.8.42 on Baltic? This ship was mined North off Swinemunde. Some mysteries exist in this case. In Rohwer’s “Allied submarine attack” mine presumed British ground air-laid, but following day (25.8.42) Germans sweeped in this area 11 Soviet submarine mines. It is impossible for German minesweepers to confused British ground mines and Russian anchored submarine mines. Only Lembit laid mines in this part of Baltic 17.08.41, but not exactly “North off Swinemunde”. But Soviet submarine L-3 laid 7 mines 25.08.42 (from 21:53 Moscow time) and 13 mines 26.08.42 in area northeast of Lembit barrage. May be some inaccuracy in date and location of loss of Tourcoing exists in German documents? Not only coordinates of mine explosion but also location of place where ship went to bottom are interesting.
Thanks in advance
Andrey
