LARS RIISDAHL sailing vessel 142/1904 in abt 1929, early, mid & late '30s (1942 sunk by gunfire))
Who knows more about the ship and the final fate ?

Axel
LARS RISDAHL was built in 1904 by K Skaaluren, at Rosendal, and was 119 grt, 81 nrt, 103 ft registered length, 24.5 ft breadth, and 10.4 ft registered depth.
At the time of her loss she was owned by the Ministry of War Transport, and registered in Cape Town. Before the war her owner was Stephan Bros Ltd, of Cape Town, and it would appear that an owner before Stephan Bros was Henrik Larsen of Haugesund, Norway.
Lloyd's register for 1942 describes her as "wooden auxiliary twin screw 3-masted schooner", fitted with 2 6-cylinder oil engines giving 40 nhp, and made by Bergius, of Glasgow. These had been installed in 1936. Her master was R D Cruickshank, British official number was 154096, and signal letters ZSCW.
On 20 June 1942 when on British Admiralty service, Lars Risdahl was shelled and set on fire at Tobruk and was abandoned. Her crew was saved.
Hope this is useful.
