Hallo
On 04.01.1940 the german light cruiser "Karsruhe" has captured the norwegian ship Kong Oscar. Kong Oscar was on its way from Riga to Sweden with refugees on board. The ship was declared as a german prize and sent to Memel.
My Question is now, wether this Kong Oscar ist the same Kong Oscar II, described on the webside of Siri Lawson [
www.warsailors.com]
and what happened to the ship after this incident. On the website i can't find any comment, that this ship was captured or under german control.
Who can help and provide me with more information on this incident ?
Best regards
Axel

Axel
Kong Oscar and Kong Oscar II were different vessels. Both were under German control in the Second World War. Kong Oscar was a small cargo and passenger vessel, built in 1864 and of 142 gross tons. Kong Oscar II, the vessel in Siri's list on this website, was built in 1904, of 914 gross tons, and was lost in January 1945 in Bodo Roads.
