An Ocean Boarding Vessel was used to stop and search suspect ships, which tried to run the blockade.
The Registan was returned in November 1941 like many other OBV's, because they were not longer necessary and U-boats had sunk some of them.
And a little correction: She was sunk by U-332 on 29th September 1942.
