In case someone is interested I wanted to mention that I just realized I have this ship listed on my website, under the Pol whalers. Oksøy was the former Pol VI, and was equipped in the Persian Gulf for minesweeping, along with Karmøy, which was the former Norwegian whaler Globe V (also listed on my website). Karmøy and Oksøy were part of the British mine sweeping group of 6 vessels station at Khorramshar, Iran.
A number of Norwegian whalers were laid up in South Africa and Trinidad in 1940, then requisitioned by the Royal Navy to be converted to minesweepers. 6 of the whalers in Trinidad arrived Bombay in the fall of 1941 for rebuilding.
