Hallo

Who can tell me, what german ship was sunk by the US destroyer USS Somers on 15 or 17.08.1944. The other attacked ship was UJ-6082 (captured ?)?

Thanks in advance
Axel van Eesbeeck

Axel,

noch ein Schiff !

UJ 6082 ex it.Korvette ANTILOPE 565 to 1942 gebaut wurde durch Artillerievom
Zerstörer SOMERS 70 östlich Ile de Levant versenkt.
Ein weiteres Opfer der SOMERS konnte ich nicht finden !
Leider ist das KTB der 6.Sicherungsflottille nur bis zum 15. Juli 1944 erhalten geblieben.

Gruß
Theo

Are you certain about this? I thought UJ6082 (and UJ6073) was sunk on August 17, 1944 by the destroyer Endicott and the British gunboats Aphis and Scarab. According to the same source did the Somers sink two vessels on August 15, 1944 namely UJ6081 (ex. Camoscio) and the escort vessel SG21. Perhaps that's incorrect, all sources that I have checked gives different information.

I have the same different information and the link Siri gave as an answer confused me even more

This are my information (all internet sources):

Uj 6077 and Uj 6081 sunk by USS Endicott (DD-495) and the british gun boats HMS Aphis and HMS Scarab on 17.08.1944

uj 6082 and a another corvette with the name Esebart or Escobart were sunk by USS Somers (DD-381) on 15.08.1944. Even SG-21 is another possibility

SG-21 was sunk either by US aircraft or a surface craft on 15.08.1944 too.

But for USS Somers it's always of sunken ships the word.

So I'm a little bit confused

Best regards
Axel
