Hallo
The former dutch cruiser Noordbrabant was used as an accomodationship and sunk on 17.05.1940 by german aircraft.
Who can provide me with information about the size in tons or grt ?
Best regards

Hi Axel,
She was 4033 tons standard displacement. BTW, she was not sunk by German aircraft, but set on fire by her crew on this date. The burnt-out wreck was later sold for scrap. It was a former cruiser of the "Holland" or "Provinciën"-class. She had a surviving sistership at the time, the cruiser "Gelderland".

Visje

Hallo Visje
Thanks. I thought she was sunk by aircraft. One of my sources said so. But i was doubting a little bit too, because the date of sunk was very late for german aircraft attacks.

I can't remember. But the entry in my database was from 1997. I have still a few of this wrong information and hope to find (and delete) them soon.
