Looking for any information regarding the defensive arming of civilian/merchant sailing vessels in the Great War. schooner, barque/bark,etc.big and small.

All leads, books, memoirs, articles, citations, etc. appreciated.

Any of the big four masted Canadian/U.S.A. schooners were armed?
