I was thinking if there was a volume printed interwar regarding the process of how defensively armed merchants ships developed. Read in a 1930s shipping book how artillery was moved from ship to ship. For example, Outbound ships stopped at Gibraltar to offload their guns for use on homeward bound vessels. etc.
There is a vast catalogue of civilian shipping related books. Hoping some of the folk here recalled a title where it was mentioned, then I could dig further via the bibliography, etc.
