You are extremely lucky that you have someone willing to talk about these things. This means you won't have to do as much research as I did to learn about my father's war experiences. I didn't even know the name of the ships he was on when I started.

I can't stress this enough - make sure you write everything down, so that his experiences won't be forgotten. Or have him talk to you on tape, that way you'll have his voice too.

Certainly - if he's willing to share them with others, I'd be glad to post them on my site. This would be another way of ensuring that they won't disappear into oblivion.
