Morea took refuge in Vigo, Spain on outbreak of war (Sept 39).
10/2/40 Sailed to return to Germany.
12/2/40 Sighted 500 miles off Portuguese coast, disguised as a Danish ship, by HMS Hasty. Scuttling attempts made, but thwarted by a naval boarding party. Vessel taken to UK, actually joining a Channel convoy and arriving in Falmouth Roads. Renamed Empire Seaman (MOT)
4/12/40 Scuttled as a blockship in a Channel port, south coast of Britain.
