Hi David George. I came across this forum yesterday when doing some research on the Empire March. I am visiting London from Australia and my dad was on the Empire March when she was sunk. He too ended up in Japan via Changi as a POW.

He was very reluctant to talk about his war experience but towards the end of his life we coaxed snippets out of him. We found out that he was only on the Empire March because a fellow crewmen had appendicitis and my dad accompanied him ashore!!! I can only surmise this was your relative. Dad’s next ship was the Empire March.

Do you know the name of the previous ship?

If anyone else has info regarding the Empire March, photos etc I would love to have copies if they can be forwarded electronically.
