This may not have been the same person, but one of the survivors from the Norwegian Hallfried was named Thomas Shaw (British) - see my crew list for Hallfried here [www.warsailors.com]

Also, if you look at ths message in my Guestbook <[www.warsailors.com]; you'll see that there's a Karl Hansen in California who claims to be the only survivor of Hallfried - however, there's no such name listed among the crew, but my list could of course be lacking a name - is this the same man you're talking about?

Karl Hansen is a common Norwegian name - perhaps he was a close friend of Thomas Shaw and has gotten the names mixed up? Several Norwegian ships had seamen by this name, for instance Skrim [www.warsailors.com]
