Hello all,
I have a couple of new questions trying to assign data from tables of losses by S. W. Roskill to particular ships:
1) January 1943:
According to Roskill, 5 ships were lost on mines - 18,745 grt.
Four of them were sunk in the so called "UK Waters" - Ailsa (67 grt), Resolute (76 grt), Brasil (5,294 grt), and Sveajarl (10,382 grt). Apparently the only losses, he counts, in these waters. It corresponds to his information "4/15,819" for the area "United Kingdom". But the fifth mine victim (2,926 grt), apparently lost in the Mediterranean, is a mystery to me???
2) January 1943:
According to Roskill, 2 ships were lost due to unknown and other (other than submarines, aircraft, mines, raiders and E-boats) causes - 6,943 grt in total. It also happened in the Mediterranean (I have already completed lists for the North Atlantic, the South Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, and the Pacific). I have no clue of their identity...???
He could also count some vessels erroneously - it is also a possibility...
Thank you for your ideas.
