Avondale Park, 2,878grt (MOWT)was the last British Merchant ship sunk before Germany surrendered. In John M Youngs book "Britains Sea Wars" he says she was sunk sailing from Hull to Belfast. I have just received an email from a survivor of this ship and he says the ship had been part of Convoy EN-71 which was a coastal Convoy from Methil to Oban and the ship was sailing from Belfast to Hull. The old sailor now thinks his mind may be playing tricks on him. Does anyone know this ships last movements and cargoes, also the ship Sneland was sunk the same day were they part of the same Convoy and where was her destination. Thanks in advance.
