Just in case you are not aware, but we cannot really complain:
THE FUTURE OF THE MIRAMAR SHIP INDEX
When the website was first set up in 2006, I decided that it would be free-to-access and that costs when they occurred would be absorbed by me. My aim was to make many years of work freely available, and making money from it was never my purpose. The website has always been a one-man operation, and unfortunately expenses have increased significantly at the same time as resources have fallen, and in the longer term it is no longer feasible to absorb costs. The open nature of the site has also led to some security issues which must be addressed by regulating access. It remains my aim to continue providing the website, but a free-to-access service is no longer viable.
FROM 19 JANUARY 2010, THE SITE WILL BECOME SUBJECT TO USER REGISTRATION AND A US$20 ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
