Hi Ralph,
15 ships built by Farnham Boyd, Shanghai on two contracts. 148 x 25 x 11, composite hull. one shaft compound engine, single boiler, 75 tons coal = 10 kts.
36 crew.
1st contract, ten ships, cost of each ship $58,890. (Dates are dates of arrival at Manila from builder).
Negros (13 Sep 1902)
Luzon (20 Sep 1902)
Polillo (04 Nov 1902)
Masbate (05 Nov 1902)
Corregidor (12 Nov 1902)
Busuanga (04 Dec 1902)
Balabac (11 Dec 1902)
Palawan (22 Dec 1902)
Basilan (19 Jan 1903)
Tablas (28 Jan 1903)
2nd contract, five ships:
Mindanao (21 Aug 1903)
Mindoro (18 Sep 1903)
Samar (18 Sep 1903)
Leyte (03 Oct 1903)
Panay (06 Oct 1903)
Five cutters were ordered from Uraga Dock Co. 140 x 23 x 8, twin screw compound, 75 tons coal = 10 kts.
Romblon (19 Jan 1903)
Marinduque (18 Apr 1903)
The other three vessels (Bohol, Cebu & Jolo) were never delivered because of the poor quality of the first two units. The inspector of construction at Uraga was discharged for neglect of duty.
Hope this might be of some use--I have more on these vessels and other Philippine Coast Guard vessels, but have to unearth it from my archives!
best regards,
Dave Wright
