Hello Brian and Thorsten,

TILLY M. RUSS was torpedoed by HMS TAKU (not by aircraft), a single torpedo being fired from a position 1 mile west of the Benghazi breakwater at 2140/11 June 1941. From the German side, the cause of the explosion was not immediately ascertained. Apparently B-Dienst intercepted a British signal reporting that a submarine had torpedoed a ship in Benghazi harbour on 11 June, so the real cause was known then but only communicated to Supermarina in August 1941.

Best regards,

Platon

Good hunting

Phil
