I am looking for any information about my grandfathers brother, Thomas Oftedal. I beleive he sailed as a mate during the war, and later as captain. I faintly remember having read about him in a book. Alledgedly, he participated in assisting or salvaging a torpedoed ship, possibly abandoned in a convoy. I may be mistaken about the details here. Anyone recognizing the name? I do not have any ship names.
