Trying to find the names of some of the ships my father sailed on.

His name was Gunnar karlsen Lien Born in Vestre Gausdal in 1912 he served on the whale factory ship Ulysses in 1938 and possibly the Ross1 1939 and served on tankers until 1941(42) Joined the RNAF in Toronto 1942 service#2296 any help would be appreciated.
