Strange North Atlantic Allied Merchant Vessel Losses for October 1943 (War Causes)

Hello everybody,

I am trying to cope with Allied merchant losses in the North Atlantic for October 1943 (in the sense of Roskill, it includes the Arctic Ocean and the Middle Atlantic Ocean, and excludes the United Kingdom Waters).

According to him, 12 merchantmen were lost in the North Atlantic due to war causes in October 1943 with a total tonnage of 56,422 grt. (I have already completed the other areas.)

Two of them ("Penolver" - 3,721 grt, and "Delisle" - 3,478 grt) fell victim to U-boat mines. Another 10 ships lost must be considered to be direct U-boat attack victims (no ship, he counts, sunk by aircraft in that month was lost in the North Atlantic, also no other ships mined for the area). They should have a total tonnage of 49,223 grt. I would count "Yorkmar" (5,612 grt), "Essex Lance" (6,625 grt), "Litiopa" (5,356 grt), "Siranger" (5,393 grt), "Hallfried" (2,968 grt), and "New Columbia" (6,574 grt).

For 1943, he usually does not take into consideration Soviet ships lost in the Arctic - but in the case he would do, than we can add "Sergey Kirov" (4,146 grt), and possibly "Arkhangel'sk" (2,480 grt - sunk on Sep 30th, he did not put her among September losses).

British cargo vessels "Empire Commerce" (3,722 grt), and "Fort Howe" (7,133 grt) are the different case. Both ships were already integrated into losses for September 1943.

So, I am possibly lacking in 4 ships (16,695 grt - not including the Soviet ones), or 2 ships (10,069 grt)...

Any other candidates? (Could be errors as well.) (Lloyd's War Losses?)

Best regards
