Hi Marty, here's what I have on my list as far as american dumping of chemical ammunition goes in terms of scuttled ships - But I'm aware of a great number of deck loads being dumped overboard.
ca 06.1945 - 23 Barges, scuttled Disposal Site Baker (off the coast of Charleston, S.C)
12.1948 - Operation Geranium - SS Joshua Alexander (300 miles off Florida)
April/May 1959 - SS William C. Ralston - 129 miles west of San Fransisco.
And these were a part of Operation Chase. I've been trying to add the correct CHASE op. numbers to each ship, but that has proven to be difficult. It seems CHASE 1-7 were ships scuttled with conventional ammunition 8 and upwards with chemical ammunition.
15.06.1967 - SS Corporal Eric G. Gibson (39.645, -70.94999)
19.06.1968 - SS Mormactern (39.545, -71.02666)
07.08.1968 - SS Richardson (29.385, -75.96666)
18.08.1970 - SS LeBaron Russell Briggs (29.38464, -75.96487)
I was not aware of USS Independence possibly containing radioactive material - that is highly interesting!
