The British full-rigged ship QUEEN ELIZABETH, built at Dumbarton in 1889, sailed Liverpool 20 December 1915 for Santos with a cargo of coal and a crew of 25. She was last spoken to on 21st, 3 miles southwest of Tuskar and not heard of since. Some wreckage said to be from her was later reported washed up on Cardigan beach.

At least two servicemen were on board, a RN able-seaman and a Private in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, who are commemorated on war memorials, though presumably acting as normal crew members.
Has anyone any information on whether she could have been attacked and sunk?
