Aldous Successors Ltd, Brightlingsea built sixteen Fairmiles motor torpedo boats in 1944: 1 x A, 11 x B, 2 x C, as well as ML 743 & 761 which were both Type "D" and later redesignated MTB. These two were lent to the Sea Scouts in 1946 and sold off in 1957 and 1963 respectively.
No idea whether this is relevant, but there were forty Fairmile "D"s transferred to the Royal Air Force as 'Long Range Rescue Craft' and given LRRC numbers 001-040.
LRRC 022 was ex-MTB 673 ex-MGB 673 and built in 1943 by Tough Bothers, Teddington. She was returned by the RAF to the RN in 8/1946.
