Hi,
It is often written that the USN’s use of blimp (dirigible) escorts for convoys during WWII was highly successful. The specific statistic quoted is that 89,000 ship voyages took place in convoys escorted by blimps and that not a single ship was lost in those convoys.
Does anyone know where this statistic originates and if, in fact, it is accurate?
Thanks
