According to the SOE war diaries (HS7/216, TNA), the cutter BLIA carried out a minelaying operation under SOE orders and laid 11 mines between Plittskallen and Faldenakke (ca. 61°09′25″N 04°44′00″E, near Sognefjord). BLIA had sailed from Lerwick at 2130/29 April 1941 and laid the mines in two rows of six and five mines from 2345/30 April to 0100/1 May. It came under fire but managed to escape. The boat carried 18 mines but 7 were defective and were not dropped, I assume that, considering the size of BLIA, that these mines were rather of a small type. BLIA returned to Lerwick at 2300/1 May.
Question: does anyone know if these mines accounted for any victim?
According to the same source, BLIA sailed again from Lerwick at 2130/3 May to land two Norwegian agents at Vaerlandet. The operation was not successful and BLIA, marred by engine defects, had to turn back and reached Lerwick at 0100/6 May.
These information seem to be missing from the BLIA page and I thought it might be useful.
Thanks.
