I was the Radio Officer on the BP Tanker
British Councillor. We hit two mines when 20 hours out from South Shields. u.k. bound for the Persian Gulf. It was 4. 20 pm Feb 2nd 1940. I was on watch and the ship blew to pieces. We were picked up by the HMS Whitby, destroyer and landed at Southend on Sea.
Daytonian in my e-mail address is the last ship I got torpedoed on..Friday 13th March 1942..by Italian sub: Enrico Tazzoli.. in position 26.33n 74.33w ( off coast of Florida )
