The wreck of the V-5105 / Tornado was raised in June 1945 by the salvage steamers Draugen and Traust.
The information regarding a V-5105 during the attack at convoy Al-134-Be had to be researched in detail. The war diary of 51. V-Flotilla ends December 31. 1944, and on that day the V-5105 is still listed as sunk and salvage work being conducted. The war diary of 53. V-Flotilla of January 25. 1945 luckily exsist, and there it occurs a strange mix-up. In the written report from V-5305 it's stated (twice) that the V-5109 (Eber) was the vessel, but at the drawing it's the V-5105. The flotilla had not been given a "new" 5105 until December, as the former one hadn't been stricken. I can't find any V-5105 surrendered in May 1945 either. I would consider it's as impossible to recommision the Tornado during January (if raised), and the information given of vessels involved January 1945 as a mix-up, as it most probably was the V-5109 participating in the defense of the convoy.
Generally, as Craig already has stated, the numbers used in the flotillas often were reused, and altered both inside the flotillas, but always when being transferred to another flotilla.
