On 21 Sep 1942 the small Romanian steamer VIITORUL 46 gross tons, departed Braila with 120 passengers, Jewish refugees. It ran aground on 4 Oct 1942 near Karaburnu, Turkey, north of Istanbul. All were rescued and sent overland to Cyprus where they were interned.
