The change from Sperrbrecher 5 to Sperrbrecher 14 is the problem. Two possibilities:

1) An error was made by the author of the documentation "Sabotage im Hafen Bordeaux, 12.12.1942" (i.e. Kommandant der Seeverteidigung Gascogne) or his eye whitnesses.

2) The change was made by post war authors, drawing a wrong conclusion from the fact that BOCKENHEIM was put out of service on 12. Dec 1942, and possibly unaware of the above mentioned documentation.

I think we will have to prove the facts by studying othe primary sources, such as KTB of the ships orr 2nd Sperrbrecher flottilla.
