a lot of Norwegian small ships (Whalers/Trawlers/Tugs etc..) have been used by the Kriegsmarine during the war years.
There are however a number of vessels (all ex-whalers) where the war years are quite unspecified (Theo and I had some correspondance on these ships long time ago, but without major results unfortunately).
SIBALDI = B-50-B 171gt 1912 ex NEB II ex PEQUENA
Johs. Presthus, Bergen (from 1940-1962, no war service?)
STREYMOY = R-114-H (until 1939) 99gt 1902 ex HVALSBAK ex FORCE ex SKULD, was owned by J.Brandt-Reitan, Haugesund in 1940 [LDHJ], fate?
TRAWL I = N-25-B 163gt 1907 ex MARQUES DEL RIF ex MUSCULUS ex REV I ex KARL, D/S A/S Vestfart, Bodö (Mgr:) Erling Sannes (1938-1952), 3/1952 sold for b.u. to Belgium, where and how did this ship spend the war years? It is very unusual for a small norwegian vessel to go to Belgium for b.u. these years!!
MAAR I ex MJÖFJORD 106gt 1908 Johs. Hansens Bukser & Lekterkompani, Arendal (1939-1959, no war service?)
HERKULES II = O-26-O ex CORONA II ex SNORRE 128gt 1908
was owned by Jens Andvik, Oslo from 1939, still in Merkepliktige Norske Fiskefarkoster 1943, LR47/48 without owner, norwegian flag, Merkepliktige Norske Fiskefarkoster 1950 not mentioned, new vessel with O-26-O, fate?
CABRAL ex HERMA 113gt 1910, rebuilt to cargo 1940, owned by Jacob Kjöde A/S, Bergen (1940-195.)
SOLLUND II ex EIK II ex SIBALDI ex EIK II 275gt 1923, converted to ferry 1935 (for service Spitzbergen - Greenland, nice route :-) ), owned by Andr. L. Grönaas, Bergen (1935-195.), in Merkepliktige Norske Fiskefarkoster 1950 shown as H-100-M for same owner, so fishery vessel??
OLJEREN ex SKULD I ex SKULD 95gt 1898 Partrederi Skuld I (Mgr:) Juul Wold, from 31.05.1940 - 29.06.1943 used by KMD Oslo, fate?
Any information on these ships war years (military service? on-going civilian service? laid-up? and fates where asked) greatly appreciated.
Best regards, Axel
