Hello Axel and Brian,
I would like to add that SHIRETOKO MARU was sunk on 5.9.1944 not 24.8.1944. At 2315/4.9.1944 TANTIVY actually fired 3 torpedoes at her from about 4000 yds but missed, this first attack apparently unobserved. She closed the range and at 0310/5.9.1944 fired 7 torpedoes at 1500 yds, claiming 2 hits and the vessel sank (confirmed by Japanese Monograph 116). She had been escorted by two "OTORI" class sub-chasers. Anyone can identify these?
