I am trying to obtain information about my great uncle - Daniel Newbert, he was an ordinary seaman on the ship. Does anyone have a relative who served with him? He was from Rawmarsh in South Yorkshire and one one of the first people killed in wwii from Rawmarsh (he was 21yrs old). There were only 23 people killed on Valentine, any body know how many served on the ship, why she was left and what happened after she was hit etc?
