"Beware Raiders"

Dear Siri and all others:

I have recently finished reading subject book by Bernard Edwards. It is published in 2001 by LEO COOPER, an imprint of Pen & Swords Books, 47 Church Street, Barnsly, South Yorkshire, S70 2AS Greta Britain. It is published and distributed in the U. S. of A. and Canada by the Naval Institute Press, 291 Wood Road, Annapolis MD 21402-5034. ISBN 1-55750-210-2.

The title is a bit mis-leading, as the book in concerned with the activities of only two Kriegsmarine vessels engaged in the attack on Allied merchant vessels in the early days of WWII.
These are the heavy cruiser ADMIRAL HIPPER and the disguised raider PINGUIN.

Of interest to the readers of this forum may be the accounts of the sinkings and or capture of various Norwegian flag vessels by the PINGUIN. Much of the details, I, personally, had not previously been aware of. The Norwegian ships involved are the FILEFJELL, MORVIKEN, NORDVARD, STORSTAD, the OLE WEGGER and her chasers, the PELAGOS and her chasers, and the SOLGLIMT.

This is a very well written book by a former merchant mariner, and I found not a single instance of a technicality to be challenged.

Happy New Year to all!
