HMS Rockrose 1947 to South Africa as SAS Protea for use as a survey vessel, for disposal in 1961 and sold to Mr. Ernest Bisogno, Johannesburg. Towed from Simon's Bay to Cape Town Oct.1963 for overhaul. Registered to Maritime Fisheries (Pty) Ltd. and renamed JUSTIN and sailed to Durban under her own power. Converted for use as a refrigerated tuna fishing vessel but already scrapped in 1967 (source: S.Afr. Fighting Ships by Allan du Toit).
Question: Did the JUSTIN kept the original machinery or was it fitted with a diesel engine during the conversion?
