Brian,
You are right, V 1004 does not fit with Volos. Indeed Wlb-stuttgart states that V 1004 and later Vs 1004 was named Anna. One of my sources states also numbers 'V 1213', 'V 1209', and 'V 1212' for (the same?) Anna. There were (at least) two Dutch ships named Anna:
1. built 1927, 172 tons, sunk at Volos 13th Oct 1944, refloated, abandoned, sold to Albanese goverment, converted to tanker (according to your source, also at wivonet).
Schiffswrackliste reports a German Anna sunk on 13th Oct 1944 – 4346 tons, but on 31st Oct 1944 an Anna of 172 tons – as blockade ship at undefined position! So the sinking date and position quoted by Dutch sources is probably wrong.
2. built 1931, (267 tons – from: Op tegengestelde koersen), sold to a Danish company, sale not validated, after war managed by Dutch government, 1948 Antares. Is this the V 1004 (indeed not lost)?
Regards,
Willem
