Unknown stack

Hi all,
I have a photo showing the Dutch destroyer Van Galen post-war. I'm trying to date the photo. One particular feat is a ship in the background, which has a characteristic funnel. It appears to be black and orange, with MG written on it. The ship's name is barely visible, but I think the name starts with "Fort". Can anyone offer more details ? Thanks in advance.
