Hello Siri
Yesterday I posted this in the wrong p[lace - my age you understand:-
I don't know if 68 is too old to be a "newcomer"?
I first went to sea in 1953 as a Cadet on the MS La Pampa, Buries Markes, London. In 1958 I moved to the United Baltic Corporation, where I spent five years. I got my Master Mariner's Certificate in 1962. In 1964 I became Mate of the recovery vessel Droxford [Risdon Beazley Ltd Southampton] where I spent two years working wrecks on the American and Canadian coasts.
After several years with other companies I returned to the salvage business in 1969 when I started wreck research. I became General Manager of Risdon Beazley in 1975 and was moved by Smit International to Singapore in 1979 to become MD of their South East Asian arm.
I retired in 1986 to devote my time to shipwreck research, my main interest being merchant ship losses in the two world wars: since then I have worked on my own account researching, writing and occasionally doing salvage work.
I live in Southampton UK. I visit your site daily and think it is fantastic.
