| Notes for Henry Richard WILSON | ||||||||||||||||
| Nick name Hank. Henry and Lillian live in the house John (or Johan Magnus) homesteaded when he came to Dell Rapids. Or was it the original Wilson homestead (Alma's husband)? Check on this. E-mail from Terry Wilson: My father passed away out at Covington Heights in Sioux Falls, SD, at 2:45 this Wednesday morning, November 14th. He had been in the hospital over at Sioux Valley Hospital for pneumonia for 5 days before going back to Covington Heights on Monday around 4 PM, which was November 12th. Sunday was Veterans Day. My father never recovered from the pneumonia on top of the lung cancer, which was diagnosed back in August of this year. He had been given only 4 to 5 months to live. The funeral for my father will be at the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 17th. The time for the service will be at 11:00 AM with burial at the East Nidaros Cemetery, rural Baltic, which was where my parents were married at, in the East Nidaros Church. Following the military funeral, which was what my father wanted, there will be a reception at the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church afterwards. On Friday the 16th, there will be open visitation from 2 to 4 PM. Service for family will be from 7 to 8 PM on Friday evening. We are following my father's wishes to the letter, which was what he wanted. You can reach us in Dell Rapids at (605) 428-3366. The open visitation and service for family will be at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids. I want to thank you so much for all of the letters, which you have sent, for my father really enjoyed reading them. Sometimes he would just laugh at some of the relatives we have. One more thing, my father wanted me to have the song Nikolina sung at his funeral. He didn't want any sadness, but remembrance of the happy times. Served in US Air Force from 1946 till 1949, Marine Islands, Guam, 19th Air Repair Squadron. Taught Vocational and Industrial Arts for 16 years, then worked for SD Dept. of Agriculture, director of Seed and Fertilizer inspection and regulations. He was Driver Improvement Officer for the Department of Public Safety in Sioux Falls and later worked as a security guard in Sioux Falls. A half sister, Bernice DeHart is listed in his obituary as having died before him, in addition to brothers Bert, James and Ralph, and Frances and Grace. | ||||||||||||||||
